Delivery specifications

To allow the production process to continue without disruption, it is important that digital files are delivered in a uniform manner. In order to process your artwork quickly we detail our specification requirements below.

Inspection by De Budelse

After receiving the digital file, we will check for possible errors. If any irregularities are found, we will contact you.


What to deliver

  • We prefer one print-ready PDF file per product or article.
    The PDF must be written according to the European sheet-fed offset standard.
  • The correct settings are available via GWG (Ghent Workgroup) for writing a PDF according to this standard

    How to deliver
  • Wetransfer.com link.
  • Email (up to. 10 mb per email).
  • Delivery though FTP server. URL; ftp.debudelse.nl.
    This information will provide you with access to a private folder, which is made available through your contact person at De Budelse.

    Technical specifications
  • Allow at least 3 mm bleed at the end of the page.
  • Make sure the page (the finished Size) is centered in the PDF.
  • The dimensions must be 100% of the final product. Files are not increased or decreased in size.
  • Always deliver files with cut marks.
  • Always deliver files with trim box and media box.
  • Color build-up/color strenght must not exceed 300% (The percentages of cyan, magenta, yellow and black add together).
  • Minimum line width positive: 0.12mm / negative: 0.18mm.
  • Please notify if extra handling needs to be performed, eg.varnish, lacquer, embossing, braille, foil, etc.

    Barcoding
  • We advise you to read and observe the following before placing barcodes (EAN, data matrix, etc.); GS1 barcoding
    EAN code in black or dark spot color, NO CYMK.Please do not shrink EAN codes under 80%.

    Images
  • Place images 100% size with a resolution of 300 DPI. If this is not possible, minimum resolution is 150 DPI.

Colors

  • Convert files printed in full color offset to CMYK.
  • When there are spotcolors (PANTONE) used, be sure thenames of the color be equal.
  • No RGB- or LAB-colors.
  • RGB images always have to be converted to CMYK.Responsible of the conversion is always the supplying customer.
  • White parts are have to be set to knock-out. Do not set whiteparts to overprint or transparency.
  • Never set technical parts or refining parts like spot-varnish,emboss, braille, foil, etc. in CMYK color.
  • Set technical parts or refining parts to overprint mode.

    Die cut
  • Use only the technical die-cut drawing provided by De Budelse.
  • Do not reduce or enlarge the cutting die drawing. Always place this at 100% in the layout.
  • Set die-cut and other technical parts in separate layers.
  • Set all lines of the die-cut drawing to overpint mode.
  • Set the color of the cut lines to spotcolor name “Artios_Cut” and0,5 Pt thick. Set the crease lines and face cut lines to “Artios_Crease” color.

    Braille
  • Set eventual braille points in a separate layer. Color name of the braille points set to “Braille.
  • Grid and example template are available on page 2.


Braille-grid and example template

  • Place the braille-grid minimal 8 mm from the crease lines.
  • Set the grid always to 100 % placement.
  • Place the braille text outside the page as typed legible text. Usethe font to set braille, preferably from www.pharmabraille.com.This font should fit in our braille grid.
  • Max 20 characters on one braille line.Row 1 Row 2 Row 3 Row 4 Row 5
  • Max 5 lines of braille in one grid.
  • Braille fonts have a different character set for each language.So always use the correct character set for a language.


Delivery specifications native files; Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Indesign

Native files from these software packages may be supplied, but always in combination with a print-ready PDF.

Saving

  • Native files must be saved in the most recent software version of Indesign or Illustrator.
  • A native file can only be used when the file is collected (with the used fonts and images) by the “Package” function in Indesign or Illustrator.Fonttypes

Fonttypes can be set to contours. Then there are no strange text behaviours anymore. Text corrections are not possible.

Trapping

  • Check the ‘overprint’ settings of your images
  • Never set technical parts or refining parts like spot-varnish,emboss, braille, foil, etc. in CMYK color.
  • Set technical parts or refining parts to overprint mode.

  • Files for printed matter made in software packages, like; Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Paint can produce unexpected results.
